Trash People

Since 2022, we've hosted over 130 neighborhood clean ups designed to bring together neighbors over a shared care for community. Our grassroots collective has powered over 10,000 volunteer hours spent cleaning up Chicago neighborhoods, gathering countless bags of litter and building lasting relationships between community members. Trash People organizes events that bring neighbors together over shared care for community — our aim is to make it easier for Chicagoans to contribute and connect to their neighborhoods through activities that demonstrate care for people and planet. Join us at a hyper-local neighborhood clean up hosted across the city by Trash People, at our Volunteer Fair that highlights opportunities to get involved with many of the other incredible organizations doing great work in the city, or check out our newest project, The Parlor — a resource redistribution project that aims to help neighbors clear out unwanted items in a community-minded and sustainable way, all while supporting others in the community. Also offering composting education and a merch shop.
